Feeding your beagle is one aspect of care that’s very important.

Dogs need much protein, fiber, good fats, calories, and fewer carbs.

Beagle must be fed high-quality dog food either home-made or commercially prepared to maintain a balanced diet according to age and to prevent overweight.

 

What to give your Beagle Dogs 

You can feed your beagle dog breed with canned foods, wet or dry foods. Just avoid foods with preservatives, artificial flavors, or some meat digest.

Some popular dog food products are pacific stream, Orijen, Wellness Core, which are all grain-free dry dog foods.

Others are Taste of the wild, blue buffalo, and several others.

Either you’re going for homemade or canned foods, ensure they are rich in proteins, omega-3 fatty acids, fibers, vitamins, and minerals.

You can feed your beagle dog with tale chicken liver, ocean fish meal, whole herring, and whitefish.

Also, turkey and chicken broth, brown rice, barley, oatmeal, vegetables, and even fruits.

While we’ve always answered that your beagle dog can eat rice, fish, and some others, it’s important to understand when to be cautious.

When you need to be cautious 

For example, your beagle can eat boiled eggs but you can not be feeding your dog eggs every day since too much of it can lead to obesity and related health issues.

And when you want to feed him with an egg, one is okay for the day.

Also, beagle dogs and most other breeds like fruits and vegetables but not all kinds of fruits and veggies are healthy for them.

Your beagle dog can take carrots and banana without any issue. Cheese should be in a small amount.

Apple cores and skin can be fed to beagle also but not too much of it, to avoid health problems.

So also, oranges, clementines, and tangerines are all added to beagle diets but also in small quantities and not daily.

However, most cherries are not good for a dog, including the beagle breed.

Strawberries, either fresh, frozen, or dried should be avoided.

The leaves or products made from it like yorghut, ice cream, and others should be excluded to avoid complications.

Grapes and raisins are also not advisable to be included in the dog’s diet plan.

The diet and food are given to a beagle to help the breed for balanced growth, sustaining the weight, liveliness, good digestion, and nutrition to build the dog strong both physically and mentally.

 

How to feed your Beagle puppy

Feeding amount and time are important in the beagle feeding guide.

How much food your beagle should eat per day depends on age, size, and objectives.

During the first 3-4 weeks after birth, the beagle puppy must drink the dam’s milk.

During week 4, they are introduced to wet foods that are prepared by canine milk replacer, mixing with the food that the mother has been eating.

The beagle puppies can be taking one and a half cups of solid foods per day or a little less.

Ideally, 1/2 a cup in the morning, the same in the afternoon, and the same at night, making 3 times daily.

If your pup is not eating, you can consult your vet doctor to see if there’s any health issue causing this.

When your beagle pup is 7 weeks old, he can fully start taking wet and dry foods while you may not still wean him at this stage.

The dog should be taking at least 350 calories daily, then it should weigh about 5 pounds if fed properly.

During 8 weeks, the beagle pup should be taking 2 cups of dry food daily.

It’s this time the pup is becoming independent and can be weaned.

It is also not necessary to still be feeding him three times daily, you can start teaching him to adapt to two sessions of feeding daily.

Especially if your pup is not yet trained to use the toilet effectively.

During 6 months old, the puppy must be fed meals twice a day, one in the morning and one in the early evening.

After 1 year, your beagle dog is now an adult. You can now start to offer cooked meat like beef kidneys and livers, no fillers or chemical additives, a nutritional balance, and a proper fat level.

Avoid grain-based foods and bad fats but real protein feeds, fish, beef, and chicken breast are good for energy, creativity, and general well-being.

The beagle male should weigh between 21 and 25 lbs or an average of 10kg while the female dog should weigh between 18 and 23 lbs or an average of 9kg.
