The Ondo West Youth Leader, Hon. Famakinwa Lucaskakaki collaborates with Climate Actors for Innovation and Sustainability (CAIS) to train Ondo women and youths.
The 4-day practical training program organized by CAIS, themed “Plantain Residue as an Eco-Friendly Alternative for Single-Use Plastic Packaging in Ondo”, was a game changer
The just concluded training program, came up at their demonstration centre at Christland, Italuogho, Ondo city.
The Ondo youth leader, Hon Famakinwa Lucaskakaki paid a courtesy visit to the NGO, and cheered up the participants during the training session.
The atmosphere was pulsed with positive energy as the leader walked into the CAIS demonstration centre with glamour and unmatched charisma.
As he mounted the podium, he gave words of encouragement that were educational, inspiring, and mind-blowing.
In his words, the development of ondo state and Nigeria as a whole lies in the education of our people, and that the future belongs to those who acquire relevant knowledge and skills that stand the test of time.
In his goodwill message, he commended CAIS for bringing the PURE-WISE project to Ondo and assured them of his continued support as a community youth leader.
He charged the participants to take the training program very seriously because it’s a rare empowerment program, and one which offers numerous economic opportunities.
Nigeria has a tropical climate which is very much favourable for agriculture, therefore, it is not reasonable to downplay Agriculture as it is today, he said.
Also, Plantain is a major cash crop in Nigeria that can generate high income consistently, he added
He then urged the participants to put into practice the knowledge they acquired during the program to increase their productivity, and better their lives.
He reaffirmed his promise on his inauguration day as he engaged ward leaders, shared his vision, and promised that his tenure would be service-oriented, and committed to uplifting the lives of his constituents.
He was happy seeing farmers he registered from his constituency into the program, and optimistic the program will have resounding impacts on Ondo economy.
The CAIS project manager, Mr Alex Ogundipe thanked the youth leader immensely for his efforts on the PURE-WISE project Ondo.
He narrated his ordeal when they wanted to start the project, how they consulted eminent personalities who hold prominent positions in Ondo.
He said there was no headway until Hon Famakinwa Lucaskakaki intervened, saving the day.
He pledged to support them in procuring good space for the project, and stand with them through thick and thin, and he has been an exemplary leader, keeping to his promise.
Without Lucas, it wouldn’t have been possible to acquire this suitable space, and organise this training today, Alex averred.
In conclusion, the program was a huge success as trainees were empowered with knowledge, basic tools, and technical know-how in smart plantain propagation, and nursery management.
Also, the training featured eco-friendly paper production using mainly plantain residue, instead of wood fibers which encourages deforestation.
